A mommy makeover is a combination of aesthetic surgery procedures performed to address physical changes women experience after having children. The procedures most often associated with a mommy makeover include:
Tummy Tuck
Liposuction
Breast Lift
Breast Augmentation combined with a Lift
Dr. Ablavsky customizes mommy makeover surgery based on your concerns and cosmetic goals. If you tell Dr. Ablavsky you’re concerned about other areas, he’ll discuss options he can include in your treatment plan.
What happens once you request your plastic surgery consultation?
Here’s a quick look at your next steps.
You’ll meet privately with Dr. Ablavsky to discuss your goals for your mommy makeover, make sure you are a candidate for the surgery, and create a custom treatment plan.
Leading up to your mommy makeover procedure, you can prepare by:
Creating a “recovery nest” at home with all your essentials in one place
Arranging for help with childcare or household chores during the first few days after your surgery
Picking up any prescriptions and medical supplies before your surgery
Buying soft, supportive sports bras without underwires
Eating a nutrient-rich diet and staying hydrated
Pausing nicotine products and blood thinners like aspirin and vitamin E
The specifics of your operation depend on the procedures you will have done as part of your mommy makeover. Many mommy makeovers include a tummy tuck, which involves incisions around the navel and above the pubic area. Dr. Ablavsky removes excess skin and fat, repairs separated abdominal muscles, then pulls the remaining skin taut before creating a new opening for the bellybutton. Breast procedures involve lifting and reshaping the breast tissue, and sometimes placing breast implants. You will be placed under general anesthesia to keep you safe and comfortable; surgical times typically range between 4 and 6 hours.
Again, this is dependent on the combination of procedures, but if you undergo a tummy tuck and breast enhancement, you will need about two weeks off from a non-strenuous job. You’ll be able to resume your exercise routine after about six weeks.
While you will notice a difference right away, it typically takes about 3 months for most post-surgical swelling to subside. Once you heal completely, you are free to enjoy your rejuvenated body.

“I have absolutely loved my experience working with Ablavsky Plastic Surgery. After having a few kids and going through with WLS, my body was not where I needed it to be to experience life as fully as I wished. After a couple of consults I chose to go with Dr Ablavsky, he is incredibly calm, very knowledgeable, and super kind. He listened to all of my concerns and offered a conservative solution to my issues. I am so happy with my body now and I am only a few months post op. I can't say enough!"

“Great experience every step of the way. The staff in the office and at the surgical center were all so friendly and professional. I have had a few prior experiences with plastic surgery and this was by far the best. Dr. Ablavsky is excellent at his job. San Antonio is lucky to have him. Highly Recommend! Very happy with my choice.”

A: All surgical procedures include some risks. At your consultation, we’ll thoroughly explain the risks involved with a mommy makeover, such as infection, bleeding, seroma, poor scarring, contour abnormalities, blood clots (pulmonary embolism), and risks associated specifically with breast augmentation and breast lift procedures.
A: As long as you maintain a stable weight and don’t become pregnant after your mommy makeover, your results should last indefinitely. Plastic surgery can’t stop your body from aging, however, and you’ll experience the normal effects of gravity and time in the years following your procedure.
A: If you’re not breastfeeding, you should give your body at least 6 months to recover from pregnancy and childbirth and settle into its new shape. If you are breastfeeding, you should wait at least 3 months after you’ve weaned your baby. Keep in mind, you will not be able to lift babies and children after your surgery for several weeks, so it may be wise to wait until your children are a little older to schedule your mommy makeover.
At our San Antonio practice, the cost of mommy makeover surgery starts at $17,235. We base this price on a procedure that includes a breast lift with implants, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. The cost of your procedure can vary significantly depending on your specific needs and goals.

Mommy makeover has one of the highest rates of patient satisfaction of any plastic surgery. That’s likely due to the fact that the combination of procedures produces a synergistic effect. Some of the benefits you may enjoy after your mommy makeover include:
Improved confidence in clothing, swimwear, and during intimacy
Increased comfort participating in activities like beach or pool time
More clothing options, including fitted dresses, non-mom jeans, and cute bras
Enhanced motivation to stay fit and healthy in order to maintain your results
A sense of empowerment and accomplishment for taking charge of your happiness
A mommy makeover is a body contouring surgery, but it isn’t a weight loss procedure. You should be in good overall health and at or near the weight you want to maintain.
